Sandals

Our Sandals are true to size. Please simply order your usual European size. If you wear 39, you will most likely be 39 in Akana Sandals.

Shearlings

We recommend ordering one size up from your regular size due to the plush and luxurious shearling lining we use. Our lining is exceptionally thick and fluffy, ensuring the perfect cozy fit.

Choosing the Right Fit & Break-in Process

Determining the perfect fit for your Akanas involves a certain sensation: initially, they should snugly embrace your feet. It is ideal for your toes to make slight contact with the front, applying some pressure, yet allowing them to rest comfortably without curling inward. Rest assured, the supple natural leather will gradually expand after a few wears, alleviating the tightness you initially experienced.

When comparing sneakers to dress shoes, we typically find that sneakers tend to run approximately one size larger. However, Akanas follow a sizing pattern similar to that of dress shoes. Therefore, it is crucial to bear this distinction in mind when placing your order.

If you're uncertain about which size to choose, we recommend taking two steps to ensure accuracy. First, measure your feet using a reliable method, and secondly, consult the European to Australian size conversion chart to obtain the appropriate size.

To accurately measure your feet, follow these steps:

  • Measure your feet towards the end of the day. This is because feet tend to swell throughout the day due to heat and activity. Measuring in the morning may lead to misleading results.

  • Position a sheet of paper against a wall and place your heel against the wall, standing on the paper.

  • Hold a pen perpendicular to the paper and trace the outline of your larger foot. It's common for one foot to be slightly bigger than the other.

  • Measure the length of this outline from the sole to the longest toe. Remember, the longest toe doesn't necessarily have to be the big toe—it could be the second toe in some cases.

  • If you find yourself between two sizes, it's recommended to order the larger size rather than the smaller one.

  • If the length of your Akanas is perfect but they feel slightly wide, consider using insoles to achieve a better fit. Additionally, these shoes are compatible with orthotics if needed.

  • If you're still unsure about sizing, don't hesitate to contact us. Our team is more than happy to assist you in selecting the best fit for your needs.
